Lyndhurst Police Auxiliary
Chief Wayne Alexander

Applications now being accepted through January 20, 2020 for the Lyndhurst Police Auxiliary

The Lyndhurst Police Auxiliary is now accepting applications for the volunteer position of auxiliary police officer. The Auxiliary Police is a volunteer organization composed of civic minded people who work together to improve the level of safety and security in our community. Its mission and purpose is to augment the officers of the Lyndhurst Police Department during states of emergency and times of civil or natural disasters. On occasion, auxiliary officers may be asked to perform duties such as crowd control, traffic control, and patrols of municipal properties.

All auxiliary officers are required to attend and successfully complete the 52 hour Auxiliary Police training program at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute in Mahwah, NJ. This year’s academy will be held each Monday and Thursday evening starting on February 24, 2020 through April 27, 2020. Academy attendance is mandatory.

Becoming a member of the auxiliary police is a great way for the civic-minded individual to assist the community, as well as being an ideal way for those men and women looking to pursue a career in law enforcement to gain valuable public safety experience. Eligible applicants must be from the Township of Lyndhurst or from one of the surrounding towns. A complete background investigation will be performed on each prospective candidate.
